Update 0.4!

I missed doing a devlog on the last update, but in place of that I got a new devlog! And a new update!

Update 0.4!

  • New Overhauled Inventory! There was an inventory in the older versions, but it was pretty buggy so I didn't tell anyone that you could use E to access it, but now we got a pretty slick new hotbar! Its pretty standard as far as more games go, but it makes building a ton easier!
  • Major Building System Improvements! Before due to the strange perspective and the high walls of blocks, it could be unclear of where you were placing a block, and difficult to build overall. That has totally changed with less rectangular textures, a new fresh building grid, and several other animations and little polishes to make building feel way better
  • New weird randomly generated NPCS! In the last update there was one dude that you could build a house for, but that was it, now whenever you build a house, a new weirdo will show up in down and demand a new one! Until you have like a little "village". They are kinda buggy, and kinda ugly, and they all have the same dialogue, but they will give you a different item that you can play around with, like the ones in the earlier versions of the game
  • A new level and several small quality of life improvements and bug fixes

Conclusion:

The base gameplay loop of building a house for a villager, then building another one etc is technically fully realized here, and the building feels much better than the last update, there is still a lot missing that will be added in the next update, mainly fun, challenge, and actual blocks to play around with besides just rocks and stones. I want to make building houses for villagers and building a village overall feel super fun and incredible to do, so you just have fun playing the game, and then at the end you can look at this beautiful village that you've made. Next update to look forward to: More building blocks, system where villagers judge your house, and more challenge around obtaining materials to build a house.

That's all for today folks! If you do play I would love to hear any thoughts or feedback!
